MILAN — The Italian shoemaker and leather goods group Tod’s on Thursday unveiled plans to spend $80 million to build a 25,500-square-foot, seven-story glass tower on downtown Tokyo’s Omotesando Avenue. The first two floors of the edifice, designed by architect Toyo Ito, will house a Tod’s store. The building also will include a rooftop garden as well as conference and office space. The site is expected to take a year of construction and features a graphic design: Concrete buttresses in the form of trees will crisscross a glass facade and light will filter through the exterior to give the building a continuous glow.
