Mikio Sakabe went both futuristic and retro this season. “The concept is coming from new fabrics combined with a classical elegance,” Sakabe explained a couple weeks before his show. Still, there’s a seasonality issue as well. After a sweltering summer like the one we just had, tweedy duds could be a tough sell. The label, designed by Mikio Sakabe and Shueh Jen-Fang, started things out with some simple patchwork dresses with both a Mod sensibility, Chinoise collars and some with sequined trim. Then, the duo used a cellophane weave fabric and worked into a series of jackets and skirts. The cropped blond wigs added to the ‘Lost In Space’ on the way to Chanel vibe.
