Retailers willing to participate in special Saturday meetings — called Saturday Meet the Market — will not pay any meeting expenses. Schedules will be personalized so that the right buyers and sellers are put together. NACDS has also launched MYMarketplace on marketplacenacds.org, a Web-based tool to help retailers tailor agendas to meet individual objectives. There will also be Marketplace Magazine to help attendees plan for the annual trade show, to be held in San Diego from June 7-10.

SHISEIDO ON THE SCENT: A recent study by Japanese beauty giant Shiseido shows that relaxing and refreshing fragrances have skin care effects. The brand researched skin’s reaction to different scents and found that Tea Rose Element, for example, has a sedative effect and also boosts the skin's "barrier function," which prevents the loss of essential substances and the entry of harmful products into the body. "Shiseido will continue to pursue the beneficial effects of scent as a means of further supporting the cosmetic lifestyles of our customers," the company said in a statement.
ROCKET MAN: Elton John gave a benefit concert for the Elton John AIDS Foundation recently, a performance that was sponsored by MAC Cosmetics and the MAC AIDS Fund.
