NU-NET: Nu Skin Enterprises Inc.’s second-quarter profits leapt 55.7 percent to $18 million, or 22 cents a share. Adjusting for an accounting change, which eliminates goodwill amortization in the year-ago period, net income jumped 35.6 percent. Sales for the quarter ended June 30 improved 12 percent to $244.9 million. In constant currencies, sales picked up 13 percent in the quarter. The Provo, Utah-based firm, which will enter China in early 2003, said it’s on pace to exceed its previously-stated operating margin goal of 10 percent for the year.
CAMP CARE: Responding to the families of victims of Sept. 11 who didn’t want to be apart from each other this summer, the Gift of New York and Revlon have teamed together to bring summer camp activities to families right here in NYC. MAKING THE GRADE: Del Laboratories, has been added to the Russell 2000 Index, a leading U.S. equity index published by the Frank Russell Company that measures the performance of 2,000 small cap U.S. companies. On April 24, 2002, Del Laboratories reported a 20 percent increase in net sales for the first quarter of 2002, to $79,940,000 compared to 2001 first quarter net sales of $66,727,000, and an increase of 175 percent in net earnings for the first quarter of 2002, excluding one-time after-tax gains from the sale of vacant land, to $3,491,000, or $0.41 per basic share. Including after-tax gains from the sale of vacant land, the Company reported net earnings of $4,948,000, or $0.58 per basic share.
