Trey Speegle — the American artist who conceived the giant mural that served as a backdrop to Stella McCartney’s show on Monday — came along with a surprise tucked under his arm. A rabid collector of vintage paint-by-numbers, Speegle owns a set of four Beatles images nabbed on eBay for $400 and toted one backstage that depicts Sir Paul, complete with a fake autograph in globs of black paint. “He’d never seen one,” Speegle enthused. “I said, ‘Would you mind signing it?’ And he wrote ‘Or’ and then signed Paul McCartney.”
