Jessica Ragusa, a senior at the Bronx High School of Science, let WWD follow her through a sacred pre-dance ritual — getting her hair done. This Upper East Side teen booked an appointment at the Fantasy of Italy Salon in the Bronx “for sentimental reasons,” according to her stepmom Susan Ragusa. “Lucy, the owner used to cut my husband and his family’s hair in Italy 25 years ago,” she explained. Luckily, Lucy’s specialty is the updo. “I flipped through a hair book and picked the one I liked,” said Jessica. “I normally don’t wear my hair like this.” In a matter of minutes, her long, straight hair was transformed into an intricately swirled coif. At a pre-prom party back at her apartment, other girls went for the updo as well. “It’s all about the curls,” said Ragusa’s friend Jessica Rienecker, showing off her bouncy Shirley Temple twists.
