NEW YORK — Versace Profumi U.S. on Thursday announced that Marjorie Wollan has been named president and chief executive officer.

Wollan, who succeeds Giovanni Agnoli, will report to Ferdinando Silva Coronel, managing director of Giver Profumi SpA, the fragrance and beauty division of Gianni Versace SpA. Agnoli left the firm earlier this month.

In her new role, Wollan will oversee all U.S. sales, distribution and marketing for Versace’s branded fragrances, skin care and color cosmetics. Versace Profumi U.S. is the sole American distributor of Versace beauty products.

“Donatella’s creativity has made this assortment one of the savviest creative ventures I’ve seen in a long time,” said Wollan. “This brand has it all, from great skin care, fragrances and cosmetics to distinctive packaging. I’m looking forward to helping grow its presence in the U.S.” The brand’s color cosmetics and skin care products are in about 70 doors in the U.S., while fragrance is in about 800.

“Marjorie understands the European luxury brands as well as the American consumer,” said Coronel in a statement. “Her knowledge of the market and her industry expertise makes her the ideal person to spearhead the rapidly developing Versace beauty business in the United States.”

Until January 2002, Wollan was president of the U.S. division of Guerlain. She has also served as president and ceo of Annick Goutal’s U.S. arm and as executive director of regional marketing for Estée Lauder International.
