In his second collection since relaunching his label, Victor Alfaro reworked the silhouette he presented for spring — a lean layering of controlled cocoon jackets over spare shells, skirts and leggings — in gentle colors and quietly luxurious materials. Done in shades of brown, ivory, gray and a touch of deep green, jackets and vests cut in slight curves came in beautiful shearlings bonded to leather. Shapes were clean but not severe, as slightly arched hemlines of the shells, A-line midi skirts and chunky baby alpaca knits gave the look a fluidity.
Alfaro is not shy about designing specifically for retailers and consumers with an active, athletic lifestyle, a mission reflected in a lineup that was seamlessly merchandised with elegant, desirable items that reflected intelligent design. For example, suede leggings were Scotchgarded to be waterproof, and a fitted leather jacket with a slight hourglass waist was lined with a wool-cashmere knit to eliminate the problem of wearing a bulky sweater underneath.
Accessories — sculptural gold pendants, suede boots, booties and handbags — were all done with a chic practicality. There were midrange heels on the shoes, and loads of interior pockets and strap options on the bags.
