PARIS – Viktor & Rolf, famous for fantastical dresses dipped in silver or dangling with hundreds of bells, are trying their hand at cheap and cheerful.

Swedish fast-fashion giant H&M said Thursday the Dutch design wizards would do a one-time collection of women’s wear, men’s wear and accessories for November delivery in 24 countries, continuing an annual collaboration that has unleashed pandemonium for bargain-priced Karl Lagerfeld and Stella McCartney designs in past years.

A launch event and ad campaign is in the works to back the line, an H&M spokeswoman said.

Viktor Horsting and Rolf Snoeren burst on to the international fashion scene in 1998 when they started showing couture in Paris, unleashing such extreme looks as their “atomic bomb” silhouette. They launched ready-to-wear in 2000, and today their range of products includes a perfume with L’Oreal, scarves, underwear and eyewear. The duo also designs for Italian rainwear and outerwear specialist Allegri.
