NEW YORK — Votre Nom has tapped Dennis Trites as president and chief operating officer.
Trites takes over responsibilities from David Guez, who has been elevated to chief executive officer and chairman, a new post. Trites will be based in the Los Angeles office of the Paris-based firm.
Before joining Votre Nom, Trites was a partner in Harry Productions, a Santa Monica, Calif.-based fashion and business consultancy, for two years. Prior to that, he had held various posts in the fashion industry, including senior vice president at Calvin Klein, president of Polo Ralph Lauren Clothing Co. and senior vice president at Giorgio Armani.
At Votre Nom, he will handle sales, merchandising and marketing. In the U.S., the collection is sold in some 1,200 doors, including Bloomingdale's and Neiman Marcus. The collection was launched in 1989 and operates freestanding boutiques in France, Sweden, Switzerland, North Africa and the Middle East.
Trites said he sees particular growth potential in the line's denim offerings.
"There seems to be an opportunity to spin off the jeans business and make it a much more dynamic portion of Votre Nom," he said.
