For spring, designers in Paris, New York and Milan are telling us what we already know: surf style is young, sexy and forever cool. Nicolas Ghesquière had his Neoprene, Miuccia Prada her hibiscus, and surfboards rode down the Chanel runway. While no one is suggesting that last summer’s quasi hits "Lilo and Stitch" and "Blue Crush" had anything to do with it, it’s likely the upcoming reality series being co-produced by MTV and Quiksilver’s mega Roxy brand could boost the number of women in the U.S. taking up the sport — there are currently about a half-million surfer chicks — or at least the lifestyle. City girls in L.A. can now get the look at Volcom on La Brea Avenue, the first U.S. door for the Newport Beach, Calif., power brand, which continues to keep its edge.
