NEW YORK — Kathleen Weir has resigned as president of the Warnaco Designer Sleepwear division of The Warnaco Group. She had held the post since joining Warnaco a year ago.

Linda J. Wachner, president, chairman and chief executive officer of Warnaco Group, said Weir’s departure was by “mutual agreement.”

Weir said “I felt it was time to leave. I accomplished a lot and learned a lot.” She said her plans were undecided.

Weir was responsible for the merchandising and marketing of the division’s Blanche line of sleepwear, as well as the licensed Valentino Intimo, Scaasi and Bob Mackie lines.

Wachner said those duties will be absorbed by Cathe Krueger, the sleepwear division’s designer, who will add merchandising, and by Russell Giarrapana, chief operating officer of the division, who will take on marketing.

Before joining Warnaco, Weir was executive vice president of sales at Natori Co. and was also president of its Eve Stillman sleepwear division, which Natori acquired in 1989.
