BB DAKOTA BRANCHES OUT: After launching an accessories line for this fall season, junior brand BB Dakota aims to extend its reach into men's wear and gastronomy. BB Dakota, based in Irvine, Calif., said it would begin wide distribution of a young men's line in spring 2008. Dubbed Dakota, the men's label is already available in Nordstrom's Brass Rail section. The men's business isn't the only thing that BB Dakota chief executive officer Gloria Brandes has cooking. Brandes, a foodie, will outfit the staff of a new Asian fusion restaurant called Kimera in Irvine with black uniforms that have backsides covered in a pleated hibiscus print. "I had Issey Miyake on the beach in mind," Brandes said. — K.T.L.T.

STREET PARTY: Melrose Place will be the site of a veritable block party tonight as Hanes launches its Hanes Comfortique pop-up shop at 8424 Melrose Place, showcasing the new ComfortSoft apparel. Oscar de la Renta will host the opening of his first Los Angeles boutique and Mulberry will throw a cocktail party. Starlet Jennifer Love Hewitt, featured in Hanes' "Look Who" campaign, will host the affair. Guests also will be treated to a fashion show styled by Jennifer Rade (whose clients include Pink and Angelina Jolie), but the "clothes" Rade has designed are made of clear vinyl, sheer chiffon and other diaphanous fabrics to show off the undergarments beneath. The pop-up shop will be open to the public Thursday to Saturday for retail sales and complimentary bra fittings. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to Women's Step Up Charity Network. — Marcy Medina
