NEW YORK -- Jockey International has named Thomas A. Whalen vice president of sourcing and engineering and Joseph M. Glovier director of corporate quality control. Both are new posts and both men will be based at the company's Kenosha, Wis., headquarters.

Whalen reports to Paul Yoo, executive vice president of finance, and will be responsible for evaluating the costs of Jockey's marketing efforts through global sourcing. He will also oversee all domestic and overseas engineering, including licensees.

Whalen was director of overseas operations at Mervyn's for six years. Before that, he was manager of production and product development at Levi Strauss & Co., also for six years.

Glovier reports to Jim Hardy, senior vice president of manufacturing and operations, and will manage the quality control of Jockey products in the U.S. and overseas.

Glovier had been vice president of manufacturing at Bassett-Walker Knits, a VF Corp. division in Gastonia, N.C.
