PARIS -- Who's Next, a new trade show for innovative junior sportswear, will take place at the next Pret-a-Porter Paris women's ready-to-wear exhibitions, which run Sept. 2-5 at Porte de Versailles.

Show organizers Xavier Clergerie and Bertrand Foache, who also developed the successful Premiere Classe accessories show here, conceived Who's Next a few years ago, but couldn't get it off the ground until this year. A first session was due to be held February last year, but was canceled due to administrative glitches with the City of Paris, said Foache.

Paris finally gave the go-ahead for Who's Next last week, and Foache and Clergerie are beginning to market the show to apparel makers mainly from the U.S., U.K. and France. They are particularly interested in translating active looks from snowboarding, skiing and surfing into streetwear for the 15-to-25-year-old age group.

"There are a lot of brands in the U.S.," said Foache, "but we need to see if they are willing to attack the European and export markets."

For this first session, Who's Next will be held inside a circus tent in the parking lot of the big Hall 7. Foache said the plan is to keep the first show small, with roughly 50 exhibitors. "This show is in line with the evolution of the market," he said, pointing to the recent success of the Sport Fashion section at Cologne's giant Herren Mode Woche men's wear show.
