While the coat sector has gone through many cycles in recent years, no factor has figured greater than the mild winters of late. Even this year, coats caught a break with an old-fashioned winter chill, only to be stymied by the tepid economy, which saw unit sales drop about 17 percent for the $3.5 billion sector.
