I got up early this morning, around 7 o’clock — Domenico slept later, ’til about 10 — and I took a swim but I got stung across the top of my arm by a tiny jellyfish. I always wear goggles so I can see them, but it didn’t work this time! I was with Giovanna [Battaglia], and we met a fisherman who caught a lot of big calamari and a beautiful coral-colored starfish. It was already dead, so we kept it.
We’re here on the island of Stromboli hanging out with old friends. Naomi got here last night and Puff Daddy called to say he’s coming over later this week. We eat the best food — fresh figs and croissants for breakfast today and an hour later a sweet brioche with all different kinds of granita — fruit flavored ices and cream. We don’t do this everyday, but it’s a typical Sicilian thing and Domenico, you know, is Sicilian.
After reading the newspapers, I took another swim and had lunch — sardines with onions and shrimp, grilled calamari, octopus and capers with tomato sauce. Then we took the boat to a gorgeous place called Sciara del Fuoco. When we weren’t swimming we were dancing like crazy on the boat. Later we headed to the nearby island of Panarea, where we went to a waterfront bar and drank beer and mojitos. Naomi was very naughty. She bought a big plastic watergun and started shooting at all of us — and even into the crowd at the bar. They started throwing water back at us. Then the carabinieri came and stopped Naomi. But all they wanted to do was kiss her hand and take a picture with her! She put on one of their hats and posed for them. Gotta run.

“I do like period [projects] a lot because I like creating those worlds, a world that is different from today," costume designer Mark Bridges said about the '50s British couture featured in @phantomthread. Bridges created the overall aesthetic and individual fashion looks for the film, which stars Daniel Day-Lewis, Lesley Manville and Vicky Krieps. Pictured here is a gown he designed for Krieps who plays Alma – the love interest of Day-Lewis' character, Reynolds Woodcock. #wwdfashion

“I think I never met the person while we were working,” Vicky Krieps said of Daniel Day-Lewis, who she plays the love interest of in “Phantom Thread.” Day-Lewis remained perennially in character, so much so that she feels she’s just meeting him now. “It’s interesting to see how different he is in real life to the character,” Krieps said. WWD sat down with the 34-year-old actress to talk about her new role in the period film, which brings the fifties’ gender dynamics into the mix. Read more on WWD.com. #wwdeye (📷: @lexieblacklock)
