I got up early this morning, around 7 o’clock — Domenico slept later, ’til about 10 — and I took a swim but I got stung across the top of my arm by a tiny jellyfish. I always wear goggles so I can see them, but it didn’t work this time! I was with Giovanna [Battaglia], and we met a fisherman who caught a lot of big calamari and a beautiful coral-colored starfish. It was already dead, so we kept it.

We’re here on the island of Stromboli hanging out with old friends. Naomi got here last night and Puff Daddy called to say he’s coming over later this week. We eat the best food — fresh figs and croissants for breakfast today and an hour later a sweet brioche with all different kinds of granita — fruit flavored ices and cream. We don’t do this everyday, but it’s a typical Sicilian thing and Domenico, you know, is Sicilian.
