WWDScoop: Donatella Does Hollywood

As told to Rose Apodaca, Donatella Versace delves into the frenetic life of a glamour afficianado - during the designer's High Holy Days: Oscar Week.

Donatella Versace hit L.A. during Oscar week, where it seemed like she dressed nearly everyone. Here, she tells WWDScoop what it’s like to be that other kind of red-carpet star.

Wednesday, March 1
10:15 p.m.: I just arrived in L.A. and had dinner at Dakota with friends. I’ve heard it’s got a good scene, but tonight it’s like a retirement home. Fortunately, it’s much better at Teddy’s [like the restaurant, in the Roosevelt Hotel]. The music is brilliant, and the crowd in our corner is great: Harvey Weinstein, Tamara Mellon, Rachel Zoe. I meet Lindsay Lohan and [psych/folk musician] Devendra Banhart.

Thursday, March 2
10 a.m: We have a little drama. One of the suitcases that came from last night got wet. The dresses were not ruined, thank God – just extra fabric for alterations. Let’s hope that will be it for drama this week.
7:45 p.m.: All my celebrity friends are so nervous about what they should wear. I don’t like to be pushy; I just listen. These are people who usually know exactly what they want. But with the Oscars, it’s a different story.
