Donatella Versace hit L.A. during Oscar week, where it seemed like she dressed nearly everyone. Here, she tells WWDScoop what it’s like to be that other kind of red-carpet star.

Wednesday, March 1
10:15 p.m.: I just arrived in L.A. and had dinner at Dakota with friends. I’ve heard it’s got a good scene, but tonight it’s like a retirement home. Fortunately, it’s much better at Teddy’s [like the restaurant, in the Roosevelt Hotel]. The music is brilliant, and the crowd in our corner is great: Harvey Weinstein, Tamara Mellon, Rachel Zoe. I meet Lindsay Lohan and [psych/folk musician] Devendra Banhart.

Thursday, March 2
10 a.m: We have a little drama. One of the suitcases that came from last night got wet. The dresses were not ruined, thank God – just extra fabric for alterations. Let’s hope that will be it for drama this week.
7:45 p.m.: All my celebrity friends are so nervous about what they should wear. I don’t like to be pushy; I just listen. These are people who usually know exactly what they want. But with the Oscars, it’s a different story.
