PARIS — Gucci Group is losing another top merchant.
Joshua Schulman, executive vice president of worldwide merchandising at Yves Saint Laurent, is leaving the Paris fashion house, sources said.
A spokesman for Gucci Group parent Pinault-Printemps-Redoute declined to comment. Schulman, who also had no comment, is believed to be heading to The Gap in the U.S.
A successor at YSL is expected to be named as early as this week. Schulman is believed to have told PPR of his plans to leave a few months ago.
Schulman joined YSL in 2000 from Gucci, where he had been worldwide director of women’s ready-to-wear. Prior to his stint at Gucci, he headed sales and marketing at Richard Tyler Couture.
Schulman’s exit is the most recent senior executive departure at Gucci Group since PPR this spring parted ways with former Gucci chief executive officer Domenico De Sole and former Gucci creative director Tom Ford.
Gucci’s worldwide merchandising director, Tom Mendenhall, left the Italian fashion house in October after Gucci president and chief executive Giacomo Santucci was let go earlier that month and replaced by YSL president Mark Lee.
Other Gucci Group executives who have left this year include: Gian Giacomo Ferraris, Gucci’s director of worldwide apparel operations, who left Gucci in May to become ceo of Jil Sander AG; Brian Blake, former head of Gucci’s watch division and Boucheron jewelry house, who in May became Burberry’s president and chief operating officer worldwide, and Robert Singer, Gucci Group’s chief financial officer, who in May became Abercrombie & Fitch’s president and chief operating officer.
Etro’s show, titled “The Tree of Life,” was a celebration of the house’s 50th anniversary. “My father founded the company in 1968, which was the year of counterculture and psychedelia. It’s really a show that celebrates that and the paisley design of India and its origin,” said Veronica Etro. #wwdfashion #mfw #ss18 (📷: @delphineachard)
