NEW YORK — Yvonne Miller, the longtime sidekick of the late Bill Blass who left the house in August, has been named director of retail for the new custom design studio for John Anthony at Bergdorf Goodman.

Miller is overseeing the launch of a separate John Anthony collection that opened at the store Sept. 24, said Scott Brooks, president of the custom design studio, which produces a separate collection of custom gowns in Anthony’s West 57th Street studio.

Anthony’s made-to-order collection has drawn a large following of New York society women and red-carpet celebrities, including Rita Moreno, Joan Collins, Mariah Carey and Nicole Kidman, but his designs were not available to the public prior to the launch of the Bergdorf’s collection.

“Bergdorf’s was founded on custom-made clothes and we were looking to sell at another venue,” Brooks said. “So far, there’s been a good response to the clothes.”

Miller was let go from Bill Blass Ltd. during a restructuring of its public relations department. During her 17 years at that firm, she had served as a house model, muse to the designer, publicist and occasional designer.
