Zac Posen is on the go — literally. Just off a cross country tour to launch his new secondary line, Z Spoke, for spring at Saks Fifth Avenue, Posen has also been prepping his Go International collection for Target. And this week he’s showing his fall Z Spoke lineup, with which comes the launch of handbags — five styles, ranging from classic square leather shapes to versions with striped poplin details, that retail between $225 and $550. As for the clothes, Posen called the collection a true “New York look” with an emphasis on sportswear separates, including ribbed silk knits, and tailored jackets done in techy viscose knits.
Much of the lineup has a retro vibe consistent with Posen’s references: “Catherine Deneuve [the New York motif notwithstanding], Jackie, a little Vreeland and some Bobby D.” Fall also marks a denim push with clean-cut tailored jackets, trousers and shift dresses, some with grosgrain ribbon trim, as well as little viscose knit dresses with trompe l’oeil details. “I see this as addressing the real needs of American fashion,” said Posen, noting that he should know what women want after meeting clients ages 16 to 85 during his Saks tour.

"It's really hard sometimes. I think I have a reputation for being really tough and aggressive and pushy but I really am a very shy person who wants to be liked, and that's the conflict constantly. There's something that takes hold - I want people to like me, I don't want to be mean - but if I see something that just cries out to be answered, I go for it," says renowned NBC News correspondent Andrea Mitchell.
