A Dose of Fabulosity

It wouldn't be a Kimora Lee Simmons event if it started on time, and the launch of her Fabulosity line for J.C. Penney was no exception.

It wouldn’t be a Kimora Lee Simmons event if it started on time. Simmons, who officially launched her Fabulosity line for J.C. Penney on Tuesday night with a party and runway show at New York’s Hiro nightclub in the Maritime Hotel, called the party for 7:30 p.m., with an 8:30 p.m. runway show. Kellwood Co. and J.C. Penney executives sipped Champagne and waited patiently with the slew of Kimora fans who stood surrounding the runway — one partygoer even took it upon herself to fill her handbag with all of the Fabulosity perfume bottles, which served as centerpieces on the VIP tables. “Kimora just got here!” an excited fan screamed over the loud music after seeing her — with her daughters and boyfriend, actor Djimon Hounsou, in tow — walk into the club at about 9:15 p.m. By 9:30 p.m. the models took the runway, displaying looks from the first collection of Fabulosity. “Every outfit is only $100,” Simmons told WWD postshow. “Well, maybe $120, but who’s counting?”
