SK Wilbur’s First Fashion Show

Big girls clearly have a friend in designer Wilbur Pack Jr.

A GRAND FASHION MOMENT: Big girls clearly have a friend in Wilbur Pack Jr. After staging several guerrilla presentations in the past, the designer held his first proper fashion show for his SK Wilbur label on Tuesday, and the collection he showed targeted a long-neglected audience during fashion week — the plus-size one. Themed “Coming Out of the Dark,” and to a soundtrack of the Carl Carlton classic “She’s a Bad Mama Jama,” the models sashayed and pouted down the runway. Each look had a name for itself: “How Can I Ease the Pain” translated into a little (or not so little) black dress, while “Never Too Much,” for instance, was a fiery red dress with a black waist insert. Even the clutches were oversize. “I want to show that larger women are beautiful and deserve fashionable clothes.” Pack said. “I have a family of beautiful and bountiful women, and they always used to say ‘What about us?’”
