A LANVIN CHRISTMAS: Lanvin’s Alber Elbaz will be the creative force behind Claridge’s Christmas tree this year. The designer, a long-time guest of the London hotel, will create a “colorful and whimsical” tree, Claridge’s said, that will be decorated with marionettes wearing Elbaz’s take on Claridge’s staff uniforms. Elbaz said that he wanted to “create an installation that carries the spirit of Lanvin, an infusion of tradition and modernity at the same time.” Thomas Kochs, general manager at Claridge’s, added, “It is simply wonderful to see this talented designer decorate the tree in his whimsical style.” Elbaz takes over from John Galliano, who had designed Claridge’s tree for the past two years. The tree will be unveiled the morning of Nov. 22, and will remain on display through Jan. 2.
