DEAR ABBEY: The Jenners beat her to it.
Abbey Clancy might have caused Instagram to sizzle, posing for a photo shoot – two months after having her second child Liberty Rose – in a hot Agent Provocateur bathing suit that looks as if it’s made from black cobwebs, but she certainly wasn’t the first. Kendall Jenner wore the same suit, known as the Dakotta, in the March issue of Allure while sister Kylie Jenner posted an image of herself wearing the skimpy number on Instagram on July 20.
An Agent Provocateur spokeswoman told WWD the brand was not involved with any product placement or image-making – not even with Clancy’s shoot in Marbella, Spain, that lit up Instagram on Monday. It could not be learned why Clancy was posing in the suit, but the Daily Mail breathlessly described the shoot as Clancy stood on her toes, raised her arms and otherwise pranced. It even had the video to prove it.
But while her posing clearly drove Web traffic, it might not necessarily boost sales of the suit. The brand’s spokeswoman said Agent Provocateur’s swimsuits generally just “sell really well.” The Dakotta is in store and online now, with a price tag of 225 pounds, or about $350 at current exchange.
