AND THE WINNERS ARE: LIM College unveiled three winners of the Accessories Council Next Generation Awards on Friday.
Judged by members of the Accessories Council’s board of directors, students were presented with the charge of selecting a fashion accessory and creating an original marketing plan to not only expand its sales, but also to increase traffic to its sales channels.
Lisa Zalenski took first place and a $2,500 scholarship, for her campaign to boost the sale of fashion scarves by increasing their appeal to young women. Second place and $1,500 went to Ashley Dean, who devised the idea for a Web site called “stylesdujour,” which would promote sales of footwear using a contest format. Users would upload photos of themselves wearing different kinds of shoes and Web site visitors would then vote on their favorites.
Danielle Cuomo grabbed third place and a $500 prize for her idea of a Web site called “TrendiLocks,” which would promote and sell hair care products. The site would also allow users to view and vote on the latest hairstyles and find stylists in their local area.
