TECH-SAVVY: Adidas is getting a fashion makeover.
The German activewear firm has teamed with Junichi Abe, the designer behind Japanese fashion brand Kolor, to spice up its Performance line.
Abe, who is best known for his use of high-end fabrics and innovative cuts, created a capsule collection consisting of 21 apparel items and two styles of shoes that employ Adidas’ Climaheat, Climachill and Boost technologies.
“The idea was to offer something new to men’s wear that is also very technical,” Abe told WWD.
Among the looks is a smart T-shirt of Climachill jersey, billed to regulate body temperature during a workout, as well as a hooded down jacket done in a mirror ripstop fabric with asymmetric closers, giving off a handsome, futuristic vibe.
The items, to retail at 95 euros to 550 euros, or $110 to $636 at current exchange, are slated to hit stores in September.
