Always on Call

The 75th anniversary celebration of the Apollo Theater drew Roberto Cavalli, Mariah Carey and Mayor Michael Bloomberg.

Roberto Cavalli didn’t stay comfortable for too long in his VIP seat at the Apollo Theater Monday night.

The designer dressed Mariah Carey for the 75th anniversary celebration, which gathered Mayor Michael Bloomberg, Jaime Foxx, Richard Parsons, The O’Jays, Robin Roberts and Steve Harvey, among others.

But Carey nearly had a wardrobe malfunction when a photographer stepped on her dress while Carey walked the red carpet, jerking the songstress backward.

She was so concerned that the dress might have ripped that she summoned Cavalli from his seat to her dressing room.

Though unclear what, if any, alterations Cavalli did to repair the dress, all seemed fine when Carey took the stage to introduce LaBelle, who was inducted into the Apollo Legends Hall of Fame along with music producer Quincy Jones.
