Andaz Fifth Avenue Hotel Taps Richard Chai

He will design outfits for the hotel's front desk hosts, concierges and restaurant and bar servers.

ANDAZ UPGRADE: The Andaz Fifth Avenue hotel has tapped Richard Chai to design outfits for its front desk hosts, concierges and restaurant and bar servers. The staff is slated to sport the new designs by yearend. “I look forward to meeting the challenge of creating clothing that keeps up with their active roles and reflects the spirit of the hotel,” said Chai of his first-ever hotel project.

Andaz’s properties, owned by Hyatt Hotels Corp., each work with different designers, such as the Andaz Wall Street, whose staff is already outfitted by Theory.

The Andaz Fifth Avenue connection came in handy for Chai, as he relocated to a room there during the current storm-induced blackout — as did fellow designer Prabal Gurung.
