LONE COWBOY: Veteran British designer Andre Walker, who launched his And Re Walker collection under the auspices of Comme des Garçons in spring 2014, is going it alone again.

The collection will be produced and distributed independently from fall 2016, with the spring 2016 collection, soon to hit stores, to be the last managed by Comme des Garçons.

“Comme des Garçons is very happy to have been part of the relaunch of this very special brand, and we look forward to seeing it develop from its new home base in New York,” stated Comme des Garçons. “We will continue to support Andre through our retail channels.”

The brand began collaborating with Walker in 2013 for the opening of Dover Street Market in New York and subsequently supported the label’s distribution to select retailers internationally.

Walker staged his first show at the age of 15 in a New York nightclub and worked for designer Willi Smith in the Eighties. In 2000 he was awarded the prestigious ANDAM fashion prize but later shuttered his label. Walker has since spent time serving as a consultant for Kim Jones and Marc Jacobs at Louis Vuitton.
