Giorgio Armani Signs On for ‘The Counselor’

The cast of the new thriller will not want for style, thanks to a new partnership between the designer and 21st Century Fox.

ARMANI’S NEW DEAL: The cast of “The Counselor,” a new thriller out Oct. 25 in the U.S., will not want for style, with stars Michael Fassbender and Penélope Cruz decked out in a range of Emporio Armani duds, thanks to a new partnership between Giorgio Armani and 21st Century Fox that also extends to retail and digital initiatives.

Fassbender, who plays a lawyer, will wear a range of Emporio Armani suits in navy, cream and light gray, as well as assorted Armani Jeans pieces when he’s off-duty. As Fassbender’s fiancée Laura, Cruz appears in outfits including a scarlet knee-length dress with a matching cardigan and a white trenchcoat.

“I have known Giorgio Armani for many years,” the actress observed, adding that while the designer had dressed her on numerous occasions, “this is the first time he designed the looks for my character.”

“As a cinema devotee, I’m always honored to play a small part in the magic of filmmaking,” said Armani, who called Cruz “eternally beautiful and brilliant,” and Fassbender “an Armani man on-screen and off.”

“The Counselor” costume designer Janty Yates had collaborated with Armani previously for “De-Lovely,” a film about the life and career of composer Cole Porter, while director Ridley Scott had worked with Armani on the 2001 horror flick “Hannibal.”
