RARE BIRDS: The luxury brands of Avenue Montaigne will display unique artworks and rare objects representative of their histories as part of the Comité Montaigne’s “Promenade pour un objet d’exception” event on March 30 and 31.
Nina Ricci is showcasing a 1991 sketch by artist César for a striking yellow cube sculpture made out of compressed L’Air Du Temps perfume boxes. Louis Vuitton will display a one-of-a-kind black alligator secretary trunk created for conductor Leopold Stokowski in 1929, complete with a typewriter compartment and foldout table.
Dior has selected two sculptures from the “Lady Dior As Seen By” exhibits held in Shanghai and Beijing in 2011, featuring artistic interpretations of the iconic Lady Dior bag created in 1995. The first is a series of sculptures by Recycle Group entitled “Evolution,” and the second is “Gold Ceramic” by Liu Jianhua.
Chanel has created a white seashell clutch beaded with pearls, inspired by the underwater theme of its spring-summer collection. It will also be available for purchase in a limited edition. Giorgio Armani, Valentino, Ralph Lauren and other stores along the street will also have objects on display.
