OFF THE CUFF: Princess Reema Bandar Al Saud is a jet setter obsessed with organization, and one of her aims is to make fellow travelers’ lives easier – whether they’re taking a month-long trip or going to dinner locally. Her luxury bags under the Baraboux label have practical compartments, detachable pouches, and magnets inside for keys.
Her latest venture is an exclusive collection for Harrods. Bandar Al Saud has created an ultra high-end version of her Reema clutch bag, with crocodile elements, Italian enamel hardware and Swarovski crystal embellishments. The tubular clutches, which are made in Italy, have two separate compartments fastened by a sliding crocodile cuff that allows the two sides of the bag to be opened separately.
The most expensive item is a crocodile clutch with a crocodile cuff that costs 3,699 pounds, or $5,656 at current exchange. The color palette is jewel-toned, including shades of ruby, sapphire and emerald and the collection is stocked in the Harrods Exotics area of the store. The cuffs are interchangeable and can be used on all of the clutches.
Bandar Al Saud is already at work on upcoming projects, and has plans to expand into toiletry and cosmetics bags, their design based in part on the bento box. During a recent walk-through of the new Harrods collection, she added that she designs her bags “always keeping in mind where a woman’s hand would naturally reach. They should be streamlined and intuitive to use.”
She’s also working on a line of lightweight trolley bags with internal compartments inspired by surfing and snowboarding bags.
