SPOTTED AT BARNEYS: Chicago-based designer Azeeza Khan can now add Barneys New York to her stock list. The Barneys store in Beverly Hills introduced eight pieces from the designer’s collection to its women’s evening department in January. The pieces will also be sold online by the end of February.
“We responded to the novelty of embellishment and the overt femininity in Azeeza’s collection, which is highly differentiated from the clean, minimalist aesthetic of many of our brands,” said Jennifer Sunwoo, executive vice president, general merchandise manager of women’s at Barneys New York. “The assortment of eight styles are cocktail and gown-focused, offering our customers modern evening alternatives that feel perhaps a bit less conventional at compelling price points.”
The retail prices range from $795 for a military green off-shoulder silk shift dress, $995 for a raw silk Empire-waist minidress with an embellished buckle belt to $1,195 for a black chiffon slim-belted gown with drop-shoulder beading.
Khan, who launched her collection in 2012 and whose flagship is located at 900 North Michigan Avenue in Chicago, said she’s grateful about the Barneys partnership. “Barneys truly celebrates young designers and holds itself as a prestigious fashion institution in the luxury market,” Khan said. “With the developmental support and specific direction I am receiving directly from their leadership, I am able to implement their expertise and best practices as I scale within the luxury market, and more importantly, get to further know my target customer.”
