Barneys New York and Garance Doré co-hosted a dinner at Il Buco Alimentari & Vineria on Tuesday night to fete jewelry designer Aurélie Bidermann’s new collection for the retailer, Bidermann for Barneys. Simon Doonan delivered the evening’s first toast: “Welcome to Arby’s,” a gag that had to be explained to some of the native French speakers in the room, observed stylist Marni Senofonte. The crowd also included Daniella Vitale, Lauren Remington Platt, Aaron Young and Laure Heriard Dubreuil. Bidermann, who wore a lace-embellished Azzedine Alaïa dress, took a break from the guests to explain that she always chooses her jewelry before the rest of her outfit. The designer now splits her time between New York and Paris, and added that she dresses differently for the two cities. “French is effortless,” she explained. “And here it’s more like having your outfit finished.”
Doré, who moved to New York a year-and-a-half ago, said she still had not yet fully adjusted to her new city. “I miss my radio,” she said. “In France I had my radio and I was listening to the same station every day and I could feel like I was really connected to the world.”

So how does the blogger, who, with boyfriend Scott Schuman of The Sartorialist, is slated to receive a CFDA Media Award this summer, get her media fix?
“I look more at Tumblr,” she said. “I like to lose myself in the Internet.” And for fun? “Twitter,” Doré said, “and if I want to really laugh, I go to Damnyouautocorrect.com.”
