BELSTAFF’S NEW BOSS: Gavin Haig has been named chief executive officer of Belstaff, and will take up the role on July 21. An announcement is expected today. Haig, 50, succeeds Reinhard Mieck, ceo of Belstaff’s parent Labelux Group, who had been filling the role temporarily. Harry Slatkin, one of the original investors in Belstaff alongside Tommy Hilfiger and Labelux, exited as ceo last year.
Haig, who is British, spent the past 20 years at Compagnie Financière Richemont, where he most recently served as international managing director of the company’s biggest brand, Cartier. During his tenure at Cartier, he also spent 12 years in Tokyo, where he was simultaneously president and ceo of both Cartier and Richemont Japan. Prior to Cartier, he worked for Dunhill, another Richemont brand, and Wedgwood.
