BRAD AND BULGARI: Bradley Cooper filmed a scene of “The Dark Fields” on Fifth Avenue on Wednesday within the Bulgari flagship at the corner of 57th Street. The thriller, slated for a March 2011 release, also stars Robert De Niro and Abbie Cornish and is said to focus on a failed writer who takes a secret drug which launches him into success financially and socially.
POSADA’S DAY: New York Yankee Jorge Posada is being singled out for more than his catching skills. He will be honored at the 69th annual Father of the Year awards in New York on June 17. Posada will join Ken Duane of Phillips-Van Heusen and Gen. David H. Petraeus, commander of the U.S. Central Command at the event, which will be held at the New York Sheraton Hotel and will mark the 100th anniversary of the celebration of Father’s Day. Posada, who shares the single-season record for most unassisted double plays by a catcher, has founded, with his wife Laura, the Jorge Posada Foundation, an organization that assists groups that work with children who suffer from craniosynostosis. His son Jorge Jr. suffers from the condition.
BURBERRY IN THE PICTURE: Burberry has tapped a clutch of photographers from the famed Magnum Photos agency to snap chic citizens around the world in the label’s trenchcoats for Burberry’s Art of the Trench Web site. The site now features the work of photographers Gueorgui Pinkhassov, Bruce Gilden, Christopher Anderson, Olivia Arthur, Elliott Erwitt and Jim Goldberg. While Pinkhassov shot off-duty models and guests in Burberry trenches at the brand’s men’s show in Milan in January, Gilden shot his portraits in Brooklyn over last year’s Thanksgiving weekend, while Anderson, Erwitt, Arthur and Goldberg captured their subjects in London, New York and San Francisco around the time of Chinese New Year in February. The Magnum photographers’ presence adds to photographer Scott Schuman’s work on the Art of the Trench site, which appears alongside photos submitted by Burberry fans wearing their trenches. Meanwhile, last month, Burberry’s number of Facebook fans reached the 1 million mark — ahead of most luxury labels’ fan count — and as of this week stood at 1.03 million.
MODERN WOMEN: Social scribe Derek Blasberg goes to a lot of parties, but he’s never been the guest of honor until Tuesday night when Lauren Santo Domingo, Chloë Sevigny and Dasha Zhukova threw him a bash at Barneys New York. The occasion was Blasberg’s first book, “Classy: Exceptional Advice for the Extremely Modern Lady.” Several stylish women, who are more accustomed to arriving to fetes on Blasberg’s arm, flocked to the second floor to congratulate their favorite plus-one. Tamara Mellon, Shoshanna Gruss, Claire Bernard, Marjorie Gubelmann, Jessica Stam and Leigh Lezark mingled with fashionable men including Jack McCollough, Lazaro Hernandez and Nate Berkus before heading to Santo Domingo’s home for a private dinner. Blasberg’s mom, Carol, whom one can assume is the original classy lady, flew in with her husband, Bill, from St. Louis to see her son’s turn in the spotlight.
