BRAND AID: Barbara LaMonica and Bruce Baas, two former Bergdorf Goodman executives, have teamed up to form a luxury fashion consulting business called LaMonica-Baas Group, which specializes in retail strategy, brand development, business development and global expansion. They plan to work with both wholesalers and retailers. LaMonica and Baas spent 17 and 13 years, respectively, at Bergdorf’s, which they left in the Nineties. LaMonica had been senior vice president of the women’s designer, contemporary, private label and intimate apparel divisions, while Baas was the vice president and divisional merchandise manager of the women’s designer sportswear, couture and men’s divisions. They later went to Michael Kors, where LaMonica was president from 1998 to 2003 and served on the board, while Baas was vice president of women’s collection and global retail. Baas then became vice president of global sales at Ports 1961. More recently, LaMonica and Baas have been consulting.
“We thought we would come together and try something new. We wanted to use our expertise to help people to get to the next level,” said Baas.
