FASHION ROYALTY: In Britain, watching Queen Elizabeth II’s annual televised Christmas day message to the nation is something of holiday ritual. So to mark the festive season, Browns in London has produced its own tongue-in-cheek take on the message, starring the boutique’s similarly regal matriarch Joan Burstein, known as Mrs. B. In the two-minute video, made in collaboration with Nick Knight’s Show Studio fashion film company, Burstein reflects on the past year in fashion. The retailer singles out Christopher Kane, Jonathan Anderson of JW Anderson and Nicholas Kirkwood for having attracted investment from Kering (Kane) and LVMH Moet Hennessy Louis Vuitton (Anderson and Kirkwood) this year, and reminds viewers of this fall’s re-launch of Browns Focus, Browns’ store that showcases young design talent. Burstein said of shooting the video: “It took some persuasion and the experience was a little daunting, particularly as I was very keen to ensure anything we did was very respectful to HRH the Queen. It was lovely though to have the opportunity to wish a wider audience a happy holiday, and I hope it will be well received.” The video is currently live on Browns’ Web site, brownsfashion.com.
