CAMBRIDGE CALLING: The Cambridge Satchel Company launched a new line of bags during London Collections: Men, which it is calling the “batchel,” or satchel-briefcase hybrid, and it’s inspired by men’s footwear.

Rose McNamara, the brand’s new product developer who joined the company from Mulberry, reinterpreted the traditional language of men’s footwear, yielding bags with details such as rouging and fringing. The collection comes in an Italianate color palette including “Chianti,” a summer take on oxblood, “arancia,” and “fig tree” green. “I have drawn on the incomparable beauty and timelessness of the Cinque Terre region,” said the company’s founder Julie Deane. Prices range from 150 pounds, or $235, for a backpack and 170 pounds, or $267, for a color block “batchel.”
