CASHMERE WINNERS: Perugia, Italy-based Umbria Trade Agency teamed with London’s Central Saint Martins to assign the first Cashmere District Award. During the ceremony, held at Perugia’s 16th-century fort Rocca Paolina, the jury, which included Brunello Cucinelli and Anna Zegna, bestowed the award on three of the 19 knitwear students of the prestigious fashion school, who took part in the contest presenting their sketches featuring cashmere-centered outfits.
The winners were Carrie-Ann Stein, Wilson Li P. K. and Ashley Kang, who were asked to manufacture their creations using fabrics provided by yarn producer Cariaggi. They were granted a six-month internship in one of the companies that belong to the Umbria Trade Agency.
