LONDON — Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design said Wednesday that it has appointed Fabio Piras as its new M.A. fashion program course director. Piras is the successor to Professor Louise Wilson, who held the post for more than 20 years before her death in May. His appointment is effective immediately.
Piras, who is an alumnus of CSM, had worked with Wilson on the course for “many years,” CSM said, serving as a women’s wear tutor. He had twice been acting course director, most recently during the period after Wilson’s death in May.
Prior to teaching at CSM, Piras acted as creative director and consultant for several luxury labels, including Malo and Brioni. He also showed his own label at London Fashion Week from 1994 through to 2000.
“Fabio’s vision will build on Louise’s legacy of creative excellence and will shape a new era for M.A. fashion education at CSM,” the college said in a statement.
