AWARDS FETE: After a month of travel for shows, Tuesday night’s 2014 CFDA Fashion Awards announcement party felt like a much-needed family reunion on home turf — the notion underscored by the stellar turnout at Manhattan’s Bowery Hotel. Many of the nominees and honorees showed up, including Rag & Bone’s Marcus Wainwright, Marc Alary, Tim Coppens, Public School’s Dao-Yi Chow and Maxwell Osborne, Irene Neuwirth, Rosie Assoulin and Creatures of the Wind’s Shane Gabier and Christopher Peters, as well as Paul Cavaco, Bethann Hardison and the Fashion Calendar’s Ruth Finley.“For many designers of a certain generation, she was the first phone call to make,” CFDA president Diane von Furstenberg said of Finley.
“Everyone things it ends with the Oscars but we in fashion are here to prolong the awards season,” quipped Michael Kors, who, along with Anna Wintour, Carolina Herrera and several other designers, came out to toast this year’s awards crop.

With no-shows from Marc Jacobs and Alexander Wang, it was up to Joseph Altuzarra to represent Womenswear Designer of the Year at the event. “I was very surprised,” he said of his first nomination in the category. “I am very honored, and very, very happy.” The awards will take place at Alice Tully Hall on June 2, with John Waters as host.
