HEALTH IS WEALTH: Or as Diane von Furstenberg would say, “Beauty is health and health is beauty.” So went the lead to her and Steven Kolb’s biannual CFDA Health Initiative letter, distributed via e-mail Tuesday, reminding the industry of the organization’s health and diversity guidelines: make runways diverse and of-age — no models under 16. “We have the message and now it’s just repeating the message and reminding people,” said Kolb, CFDA chief executive officer. “It’s such a busy time. People are focused on their collections, so it’s a gentle, subtle way to say, ‘Hey, in all your chaos, don’t forget diversity and health.’” There’s no update to the guidelines, just reinforcement to what was established in 2007. Kolb said that since implementing the age limits there’s been “a major shift,” noting that when an under-16 model has worked “it’s been a very random instance.”
