CFDA to Discuss Racial Diversity

The meeting is in response to a letter Bethann Hardison's group The Diversity Coalition emailed last week.

TIME TO TALK: Post-Europe, the CFDA’s Diane von Furstenberg and Steven Kolb plan to sit down with Bethann Hardison to discuss racial diversity on the runways. The meeting is in response to a letter Hardison’s group, The Diversity Coalition, e-mailed last week charging racism on New York runways. The governing bodies of fashion weeks in London, Paris and Milan received ones with similar criticism.

Kolb spoke with Hardison Sunday night about the prospect. “I always intended to and I will,” she said.

Hardison also plans to connect with the British Fashion Council “to see how we can continue the discussion as they requested,” she said. BFC spokeswoman Gemma Ebelis e-mailed The Coalition within hours of receiving the latter’s e-mail on Thursday.
