GO WESTON, YOUNG MAN: The young British men’s wear designer Charlie Casely-Hayford has teamed with the luxury French footwear brand J.M. Weston on three styles of men’s shoes to be sold at Weston’s stores in London, Paris, and Tokyo starting in May. Styles include lace-ups in a Prince of Wales check made from velvety laser-etched leather; lace-ups with metallic leather details that riff on construction worker toe-cap boots; and quilted penny loafers.
Casely-Hayford and Michel Perry, Weston’s artistic director, first met two years ago at a dinner in London, and the idea for a collaboration was born soon after that. “I was seduced by Charlie’s approach to his collections, a blend of chic and tailored style, all with the impertinence of Shoreditch. That mix is all very close to the vision of J.M. Weston,” said Perry in an interview at the brand’s shop on Jermyn Street.
This is not Weston’s first collaboration: In the past it has worked with Jean-Charles de Castelbajac and Maison Kitsuné.
Casely-Hayford said he was interested in fusing “different worlds of rebellion” for the J.M. Weston collaboration. Prices range from 490 pounds, or $815, for the loafers to 730 pounds, or $1,214, for the limited-edition Prince of Wales lace-ups.
