LONDON — Chime for Change, a campaign launched by Gucci to promote women’s rights worldwide, will host a concert in London to be headlined by Beyoncé.
The Sound of Change Live will take place at Twickenham Stadium on June 1st, and will be broadcast globally. It will feature singers including John Legend, Ellie Goulding, Florence & the Machine, Iggy Azalea, Rita Ora, and Timbaland.
Salma Hayek Pinault co-hosted a news conference at London’s Soho Hotel on Tuesday where the announcement was made.
“We live in a world where millions of girls and women are struggling for basic rights, the right to education, the right to health, the right to justice. But there is hope,” she said. “At this point in history we have the resources, the tools, the technology to make a difference.”
Gucci launched the campaign in February and the founding Committee includes Beyoncé, Hayek Pinault, and Gucci creative director Frida Giannini.
Legend called the June event: “The first global concert focused on girls and women’s empowerment. The issues we are highlighting will demand our attention long after that.”
Additional acts will be announced during the upcoming weeks. Tickets go on sale on Wednesday, March 27th.
