CHINA MOVES: Is Philippe Fortunato, longtime managing director of Fendi Group, heading to Louis Vuitton? Sources said Fortunato is slated to become Vuitton’s new president in China, taking up a position previously held by Christopher Zanardi-Landi, who has been tapped to succeed Pietro Beccari as Vuitton’s Paris-based executive vice president. Beccari is now president and chief executive officer of Fendi. Vuitton officials could not immediately be reached for comment.
Fortunato, 46, is a veteran of luxury giant LVMH Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton. He joined Fendi in 2004, and before that spent four years as Hong Kong-based president of Asia-Pacific for Christian Dior Couture. Fortunato started his career at lingerie firm Chantelle, and he also spent seven years at Chalhoub Group developing luxury businesses in the Middle East.
