LOUBOUTIN’S L.A. TRIPLE PLAY: Christian Louboutin will open its third Los Angeles boutique in the Brentwood Country Mart on Wednesday. Located at 225 26th Street, the two-story 1,530-square-foot space will showcase men’s and women’s shoes, handbags and small leathers goods, as well as the newly launched Christian Louboutin Beaute collection. Drawing inspiration from the casual beach vibe of the tony town, Louboutin and London-based design consultancy Household worked with the existing structure of the barn-like building, incorporating many of the original features, including its signature wooden beams. The boutique has two stories with a double-height space in the center featuring a large, reclaimed timber structure resembling ship masts and creating an atrium effect. A key design element in the nautical-themed boutique, ship masts line the walls, creating a merchandising framework and support for whitewashed wooden plinths that display the red soled wares. Placed at slightly different heights, the plinths create a softly feminine swoop reminiscent of the bow of a ship or the curve of a seashell, all over shimmery mother-of-pearl wallpaper. Upstairs, the more private space houses items from Louboutin’s evening and beauty collections. Shot velvet sofas are situated around personal round trolleys that the store associates use to bring customers their items. The red carpet and antique brass fixtures are blended with neutral palettes and more nautical elements such as whitewashed wood and weathered ropes tied in fishermen’s knots hold up misty antique mirrors.
