The garden ballroom at the Pierre hotel was packed with powerful women on Friday afternoon, all in the name of Citymeals-on-Wheels. Ladies including Tory Burch, Samantha Boardman, Serena Boardman, Wendi Murdoch, Paula Zahn, Gael Greene, Danielle Ganek, Christine Baranski, Pat Wexler, Gretchen Mol, Kelly Rutherford, Tovah Feldshuh, Evelyn Lauder, Carmen Dell’Orifice, Dana Cowin and Deborah Roberts gathered for the charity’s 24th annual fund-raising lunch, honoring Diana Taylor and Kathleen Turner.
“Let me point out there are more women Archangels [the top tier of donations] than men. It’s not the first time that’s happened,” Taylor said. “Men, you can take that as a challenge.”
Turner, who is on the Citymeals board, echoed the sentiment. “Someday the guys will catch on — or catch up,” she said.
When she’s not delivering meals to the elderly, Turner is maintaining her active acting career. Up next? “High,” on Broadway. “I play a foulmouthed recovering-alcoholic nun,” she said, “if that appeals to anybody here.” Probably not.
